Le président directeur général de GoSat explique ici le choix des régions de l’Ouest et du Littoral, non sans dévoiler sa stratégie de déploiement au Cameroun.

Pourquoi avoir choisi les régions du Littoral et de l’Ouest pour lancer vos activités ?

Aujourd’hui, le satellite qui est lancé par nos partenaires a son épicentre plutôt au Nigeria mais qui déborde sur le Cameroun. Au jour d’aujourd’hui, nous l’utilisons pour introduire nos solutions à moindre coûts sur le Cameroun. Par contre, le satellite qui sera lancé au mois d’octobre de cette année, aura son épicentre au niveau du Cameroun pour permettre bien entendu, de couvrir tout le territoire camerounais. Quand ce deuxième satellite sera lancé on aura la possibilité de quitter le Littoral et l’Ouest pour aller vers d’autres régions. Le satellite est un engin qui coûte 385 millions de dollars. Ce qui est au dessus de nos moyens. C’est pourquoi nous remercions notre partenaire Konnect Africa d’avoir pris l’initiative de lancer ce satellite.

Est-ce que le Camerounais lambda peut dès à présent bénéficier de vos services ?

Nos tests sont concluants. Nous sommes déjà opérationnels ; vous nous appelez et nous vous connectons au haut débit en 1h excluant le temps de déplacement vers votre zone. Nous lançons aujourd’hui, une campagne de démystification et démonstration de nos produits. La caravane passera deux jours à Douala et prendra ensuite, la route de l’Ouest et des autres régions du pays jusqu’à Foumbot. Il y a 12 villes dans lesquels nous allons nous arrêter pour déployer, en collaboration avec les différents clusters que nous avons déjà identifiés. Nous allons rencontrer le tissu économique local, les autorités administratives locales ; montrer aux populations camerounaises comment on accède au satellite.

Comment est né votre projet ?


Ce projet est né de toutes les expériences que j’ai pu engranger à l’extérieur. Je suis un Camerounais, diplômé de polytechnique en 1987. Je viens avec ce produit parce que je sais que c’est l’avenir de l’Afrique. Quelques récentes
études révèlent que 80% des emplois de demain ne sont pas encore crées. Et que grâce au numérique, ces nouveaux emplois seront crées. En apportant ce produit Gosat, cet outil qui doit permettre à toute la population urbaine, périurbaine et rurale de faire le chemin vers le numérique, on leur apporte la possibilité de s’armer pour que demain, les nouveaux emplois puissent être ceux auxquels ils peuvent aspirer. Voilà la contribution que ma modeste personne peut apporter. Ma politique est celle du gouvernement qui veut porter à 20% le taux de
pénétration Internet pour les ménages à l’horizon 2020 ; mettre le coût d’accès aux services large bande à moins de 5% du revenu mensuel moyen d’un citoyen à l’horizon 2020, etc.
