Qu’est ce que le QR Code ?

Le QR Code est un code-barres à deux dimensions qui permet d’encoder des données. Il s’agit le plus généralement d’un lien vers une page Internet (URL). Le “QR” signifie ‘’Quick Reponse’’ car le contenu que comporte ce carré noir et blanc peut être décodé rapidement. A la différence d’un code-barres classique, le code QR peut contenir beaucoup d’informations : 7089 caractères numériques, 4296 caractères alphanumériques, contrairement au code-barres normal qui ne peut stocker que de 10 à 13 caractères ou 2953 octets ! Il faut un téléphone portable équipé d’un lecteur de code QR pour lire le contenu.

On le voit désormais apparaître sur de nombreux flyers, affiches, revues, etc. Le QR Code se présente sous forme d’un code-barres en deux dimensions. Il permet d’effectuer des interactions avec les Smartphones.

D’un point de vue fonctionnel, le QR Code permet d’étendre l’information présente sur tout support physique et de donner une dimension numérique aux campagnes marketing. Cette technologie accélère et incite l’usage des services Internet mobile : c’est un véritable outil interactif.

En scannant le QR Code avec un smartphone il est possible, par exemple, d’accéder rapidement à une page Internet. D’autres actions sont également possibles comme enregistrer les informations d’une carte de visite directement dans sa liste de contacts ou encore ajouter un évènement dans son agenda.

mobile_qr_codeLe QR Code a été inventé en 1994 par Denso Wave, une société japonaise qui travaillait pour Toyota. L’usage de cette technologie est désormais gratuit. Le QR Code n’est toutefois pas le seul code-barres 2D existant. Un autre exemple est le Datamatrix, et son pendant payant le Flashcode français.
Le QR Code reste toutefois la référence mondiale pour le grand public. Il est très répandu au Japon depuis les années 2000 où son usage est courant. Ainsi en 2011, un japonais scannait en moyenne 5 QR Codes par jour – plus que de SMS envoyés !
En 2010, il commence à se développer aux Etats-Unis puis en Europe où on le voit apparaître notamment dans le domaine de la publicité.

Personnalisations

Par ailleurs, les QR Codes peuvent être personnalisés et ainsi permettre aux marques de se mettre en avant ou d’intégrer le QR Code à leur charte graphique.
Lors de la personnalisation, certaines règles doivent être respectées sur la structure du QR Code pour que celui-ci reste lisible. La personnalisation est toutefois le meilleur atout pour valoriser l’identité visuelle d’une marque.
